Help wanted
There are notable gaps in this database. Perhaps most tragically, none of the official bulletin boards were ever properly archived, and an inordinate amount of contemporary material about (and directly from) the band has been permanently lost. Even the Wayback Machine only captured a fraction of what was, for more than a decade, the central nexus for Harvey Danger and their fans to exchange information.
If you were a member of the message board old guard, I humbly ask that you look through your hard drives, emails, backups, old iPods, burned CDs, your parents’ attic, etc. for anything that might be relevant, important, or unique, and—if you are so inclined—please email a copy so I can add it to this collection before it disappears forever.
An easier deficiency to correct is the current lack of details sourced from social media—especially Facebook and Instagram—where the lion’s share of HD fandom activity has taken place in the past decade or so. Unfortunately for this project, I haven’t used any of those sites for a long, long time, and I’d like to keep it that way.
So: anyone with easy access to Harvey Danger–related Facebook groups, Instagram accounts, etc. and some time to donate would be doing the HDDB a tremendous service by scrolling through old posts and sending screenshots of anything interesting to z@hddb.xyz.
Finally, some of the information on this site (especially anything flagged with a little question mark) doesn’t have a source more authoritative than “I saw someone say this online once, providing no additional evidence themselves, and I have not been able to verify it one way or another.”
If you have any evidence, especially primary or secondary sources, which can verify (or refute!) anything I’ve printed here, I would be deeply grateful if you’d email z@hddb.xyz with as many details as possible.
Likewise, if you have any corrections—things I’ve got wrong, and you’ve got a source that’s right—please contact me at your earliest convenience.
