Contributing
The HDDB strives to be as complete as possible, and welcomes new contributions. If you have any Harvey Danger–related information that doesn’t already appear on the site, please email it to z@hddb.xyz.
Especially if you were a Harvey Danger fan back in the day, I humbly ask that you look through your hard drives, emails, backups, old iPods, burned CDs, parents’ attics, etc. for anything that might be relevant, important, or unique, and please email me a copy—or nice clear photo(s) thereof—so I can add it to this collection.
Very interested
- Anything from my specific wishlist below.
- Any evidence (especially primary or secondary sources) that can verify, expand on, or contradict anything printed here.
- Anything sourced from Facebook or Instagram (I don’t use either.) If you have an account on one of those sites and some free time to donate, you would be doing the HDDB a tremendous service by scrolling through old posts and sending in screenshots of anything cool.
- Details of studio recording sessions: dates, locations, personnel, and which songs were recorded when.
- Info about unreleased songs: when they were written, if/when they were played live, any known recordings (extant or not), any known lyrics.
- Regardless of individual relevance, literally anything with a specific date is always extremely useful for cross-referencing with other sources.
Quite interested
- Any missing information about live shows: dates, venues, setlists, other bands on the bill, images of gig posters, etc.
- Non-HD-related solo projects are out of scope, but solo work that is related to Harvey Danger is very much in scope: e.g. the “country” version of “Carlotta Valdes,” the Mortal Enemies demo of “What You Live By,” Sean and Aaron’s duo shows in 2002–2003, etc.
Maybe interested
- Physical copies of items with relevant info, e.g. flyers, setlists, news clippings. Under most circumstances, you can save us both a lot of hassle by taking a few nice clear pictures (with your phone is fine) and emailing those to me instead. However, I’ll consider receiving anything I can use to make this digital archive more substantial, and I’ll pay shipping costs if discussed in advance. Contact me via email with any questions.
Not interested
- Anything generated, assisted, or derived from “AI” of any kind.
- For legal reasons, I cannot host copyrighted music, which is a bummer for a website about a rock band. I’m happy to link out to sites like YouTube, and you should feel free to send me rare and/or interesting files—I’ll happily document anything relevant—I just don’t want to expose myself to any DMCA bullshit by redistributing it.
- Photos with no context, e.g. an undated picture of the band playing on an unidentifiable stage. I don’t really have anywhere to put stuff like that.
- Financial contributions. The monthly cost of hosting this site is less than a cup of coffee. And not even fancy coffee. I appreciate the thought, but I’m good.
Specific wishlist
- High-quality images of the green cardboard variant of Merrymakers on CD (from the 2nd Arena Rock pressing of green, blue, and orange). It probably looks like the cover of the “Flagpole Sitta” single, but I’d love to have a complete set of proper photos.
- An unmodified disk image (metadata intact) of the USB drive that Sean distributed around the release of Make Good Choices in 2013. If you own one of those drives, and have never modified the files on it, please get in touch, and I will walk you through the process of creating an image of the filesystem and sending it in. (I don’t need the physical drive itself, just the bits and bytes.)
- Photos or scans of the 1998 MediaAmerica® Radio Presents SonicNet All Access promo CD featuring Harvey Danger. The audio has been in circulation for ages, but evidence of the physical artifact eludes me.
Plus any information about:
- The recording sessions for “We Drew the Maps”.
- Any known or unknown unreleased songs, especially those performed at the OK Hotel Cafe in 1996, and/or on KNDD in 1996 or ’98.
- HD’s radio debut on KCMU’s “Live Room”, January 27, 1996.
- The very first version of “Carjack Fever”: the one recorded at Private Radio in 1995 (or maybe ’94). Even an exact date for the session would be nice.
- Happy Holidays from Harvey Danger and Slash/London (1998). That was a thing and I’d love to know more about it.
